Becoming a mother was something I dreamed of for as long as I can remember. At 13, I was diagnosed with PCOS and, not fully understanding its impact, was placed on birth control. As I grew older and met my husband, my hope for motherhood deepened—but the journey proved far more challenging than I ever expected. Everything I believed about pregnancy and birth began to shift as my body struggled to do what I felt it was meant to do.
By 2023, I had started to make peace with the possibility that motherhood might not be part of my path, yet I still felt called to support others on their journeys. I wanted to walk alongside women facing similar struggles and to be a source of strength during their pregnancies.
When one of my closest friends—someone who shared in my infertility journey—became pregnant, I had the privilege of supporting her through this beautiful new chapter. Learning from her holistic approach to pregnancy, I fell in love with the doula philosophy and the deep, intuitive nature of birthwork.
Though I longed to pursue this path, life shifted quickly. A few months after her daughter was born, I called her with unexpected news: my hope had been restored—I was pregnant. I knew immediately that I wanted her by my side.
Throughout my pregnancy, I focused on preparing my mind, body, and spirit for birth. I practiced breathwork, movement, and meditation, slowly releasing fear and embracing strength. By my third trimester, I felt truly ready.
When I went into spontaneous labor, I spent hours at home applying everything I had prepared for—dancing with my husband, laughing, praying, and surrendering. When it was time to go to the hospital, my dear friend met us there. My labor was long and fluid, unfolding over 38 transformative hours, but my husband and my friend—now my partner at Woven Within—supported me every step of the way. She was my doula, my advocate, my grounding force.
After giving birth to my son, I knew with absolute clarity that it was my turn to step into this calling. I wanted to offer other women the same strength, support, and empowerment I had been given. Becoming a doula wasn’t just a decision—it was the fulfillment of a journey that shaped who I am today.
