A Trying Pregnancy Meets a Beautiful End

There was a scare starting at 32 weeks that I had low fluids and might have to give birth early. We were luckily able to help, with doctor’s help, to have her stay in until 37 weeks. We had to be induced due to low fluids again. We went in and everyone was so attentive. I didn’t start feeling contractions until the next day and we had lots of popsicles while we waited for her to arrive. I waited as long as I could during contractions until I got the epidural and after that, it was smooth sailing until I had to start pushing.

While I was pushing I thankfully only had 2 nurses and my husband in the room with me, and they were able to dim the lights. We got to play music which all made it very calm for myself. While I had started pushing, I got very nauseous and I did have to throw up what little I did have in my stomach throughout the pushing process.

After she made her appearance I got to hold her for the first time and the weight of the world vanished. When they took her to clean her up I started shaking aggressively and had to have medicine before I could hold her again. Later after I was better, we got moved to our stay in room. When we got there I had started to notice our daughter had some wheezing sounds in her breathing so nurses came to take a look.

That first night right after giving birth she had to spend in the NICU, and 5 days after that. The NICU is a very scary place, but being as this was my first kid we learned so much from all the nurses. Everyone on staff was very helpful. We saw our daughter absolutely every single hour we could. Because of that, they put us in an extra room until she got out of NICU after I got discharged. We all got discharged from the hospital and went home happily.
